“Digitalisation of justice systems and its implications for the legal profession”
The CCBE and ELF organised an event on Friday 3 October 2025 from 9.00 to 16.00 (CET), in the European Parliament, Brussels.
The theme of the event is “Digitalisation of justice systems and its implications for the legal profession”.

“The digitalisation of justice in the EU – what does it mean for justice systems and what does it mean for lawyers in particular? Do we all see the future the same way?”
This panel session will explore different perspectives and approaches to the digitalisation of justice, as well as the impact of EU measures on justice systems across Member States and the legal profession. The panel will discuss what digitalisation means for justice systems and lawyers in particular and reflect on whether there is a shared or divergent vision of the future.

The panel session will examine the transformative impact of AI on legal practice, balancing the promising opportunities with the potential risks it poses. The panel will assess the legal and ethical considerations, consider how AI is reshaping lawyers’ roles, and share practical insights from law firms that have integrated AI, highlighting key questions lawyers should consider before adopting these technologies.

With the increasing use of digitalisation in the justice system, the protection of fundamental rights has become even more important. The panel session will consider a wide spectrum of important aspects, from policy insights, guidance to safeguard rights and avoid pitfalls, and a special focus on best practices for the handling of electronic evidence in cross-border cases.
